WWE’s lawyer Jerry McDevitt informed Dupree’s lawyers, Brenden Laydon and Clinton Krislov, on the same night the lawsuit was filed that the former WWE Tag team Champion had signed a deal back in 2011 which prevents him for filing lawsuits like this against the company.
Rene Dupree’s lawyers indicated that they were not informed about this deal y their client before and had to agree to close the case. While, Leydon and Krislov filed a notice for dismissing the lawsuit, today in Connecticut, the court still has to sign off on the notice to prevent further problems. Although Dupree’s attorneys filed the dismissal without prejudice, so that the case may be re-filed later on.
Dupree was a part of WWE’s roster since April, 2003 and became two times WWE tag team champions before leaving the company in 2007 at his own request.
