In case you didn’t know…

The RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans is now confirmed as Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax.

It had previously looked like Asuka would face Alexa Bliss, with the undefeated Superstar winning the Royal Rumble and then defeating Jax in two very competitive matches to eradicate the possibility of the Irresistible Force joining the match - but that all changed when Asuka challenged SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at Fastlane.

Naturally, we segued to Nia Jax facing off against former on-screen friend Alexa Bliss in a storyline that’s attracted much controversy for trying to tackle the issue of body shaming - something Jax has also spoken about.

The heart of the matter

In a recent interview with Planeta Wrestling, Jax was asked how she would feel if her WrestleMania singles match against Alexa Bliss was put on the Kickoff Show:

Jax also went on to speak about the Women’s Revolution, saying the women “just want to be looked at as equal” and that women main-eventing WrestleMania is a natural step that should be taken in the future.

Another interesting point raised was when the former NXT star was asked about the possibility of being drafted to SmackDown during the Superstar Shakeup.

What’s next?

Monday’s episode of RAW is the go-home show for WrestleMania 34. We can expect to see Nia Jax appear ahead of her Raw Women’s Championship match against Alexa Bliss on The Grandest Stage of Them All, emanating from New Orleans on April 8th.

Author’s take

Well, I really hope this match isn’t on the pre-show as it has a pretty great build. Sadly, someone has to go on the pre-show, especially with the card for WrestleMania being potentially more stacked than ever before. I mean, any of four or five matches could headline the event.

When it comes to Nia Jax going to SmackDown, it’s refreshing to hear that she would be open to doing so. I think Jax would be a great addition to SmackDown, as she has been to Raw, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon, as I think we may see a new champion crowned in New Orleans. I also think we’ll see Jax and Asuka on separate brands going forward and, while Asuka isn’t a certainty to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship, it certainly looks more likely that she would move to the blue brand out of the two.
